Pad Thai

The changing of the seasons. Now please, please explain this one to me..... In the summer you're in the sun more and therefore your skin gets darker and your hair gets lighter right? Well my skin gets darker but my hair does as well therefore making my eyes look darker than they are. I don't know anymore.... Today my very good friend here Kayla took me out for a surprise. She took me to get a pedicure because she wanted to bless me. Then we ate Pad Thai which is my favorite Asian food! So good, it made me feel like I was in Thailand again! Then we sat in cathedral square of Christchurch and we people watched, while talking about life. I loved it! It was just what I needed for this glorious Saturday!!! It's so great to get off base and get a taste of the real world here and there. For all of us not just me.... I don't feel like a foreigner anymore here because I go to the correct side of the car to get in, I look the right way before turning, I say different things as apposed to what we say in the states. It all seems so normal. Now when I go home for a month, I will be so screwed up, and I will probably spend that month getting over jet lag just to come back and get messed up again. I feel more well rounded now though. I always wondered when I was little what it would be like to do things backwards and now I know. I love how here in this marvelous country they really live in the moment. Where as in the states we live to achieve something like I only have to work at this job so that I can advance to the next level. We are always trying to get somewhere. Here they like to do things on a more peaceful schedule. "Island Time" is what I call it. Technically this is an Island. You can go from the tip of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island in 2-3 days. I love it though!
So yes needless to say it was an amazing day, full of tranquility, pondering and relational building. Thank you Lord...
