Yet again another day...

You know I find that each day there is something new to learn. I know I should not be surprised by this but yet again I am. Dalton Lifsey is the speaker this week, he spoke on my DTS as well. He is my favorite speaker that has come through Oxford. What he has to say is amazing and it really speaks into my life better than the other speakers. Today he spoke on leadership, using David as an example. "The Lord is moved by the movements in our hearts." This is so cool because, the lord is moved by what moves me!? What does that mean? To me it means that God delights in what I delight in. He likes me. Not only does he love me, he likes me! In David's life there are 3 things God did in order to place David where he was. One was that he Chose him, two was that he took him, and lastly is that he Brought him. Psalm 78:70-72 says: "He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them." This is a model of leadership. Of how he chooses you for a specific reason, then he takes you to that place then he brings you people to lead.
One important thing that I've learned from this week so far is that the more authority or leadership you have, the more people don't like you. It depends on how you use your authority and leadership. If you use it as a power trip then of course people aren't going to like you. But when you use it in the way of discipling one another then God will bless you in it! This leadership stuff is really something to learn about and I think it takes everyone a while to learn. I love how God teaches us at his pace instead of ours, I mean when I think back to High School and think about what I learned there, honestly I cannot remember that was 4 years ago. Although when I think about what God has taught me I can remember quite a bit more and more details of how I was feeling and such. Then that helps me impart wisdom on the students and different situations here. This school is leaving in about a week and I am sad that they are all going because I have some pretty close friends on this school, but I'm excited for what God is going to teach them and show them in this time! I cannot wait to hear the crazy stories they will have! I am also beginning to get excited for the Backpackers staff to get here this week. It's all interesting we will just have to wait and see...
